We have never been more connected than we are now. We can easily get in contact with somebody if needed over social media and we can easily just watch some tv shows if we want to be entertained. But even with all the possibilities with this connected world we still end up separating us from others. Let’s talk about why you sometimes should try to digital disconnect from people and what the digital disconnect meaning is. And you may ask it desocializing happens because we don’t find people interesting enough or are we not aware of the present moment? Let’s find out.
It is like we have forgotten to live in the present. We are always in search of something better and forget to live in the present moment. Why is it we always have to take a photo of something instead of just enjoying the moment we currently are in? Why is it we have to show it to our friends and keep scrolling down a feed and see what our friends are doing?
I think we have to remind ourselves that we don’t live as socially as we think we are. How often is it we go for a walk just to walk? How often do we do something just for the moment itself? Personally I think it is way to rarely.
Please, turn off your phone and digital disconnect
I’ve tried so many times putting my devices away and tried to talk to a person who just keep sitting on their phone. I’m sitting here and talking to you. Why don’t you put away your phone and keep your focus on me? What is it that’s more important and interesting than having a moment with one of your best friends? Absolutely nothing. We’re always distracting ourselves and that’s the opposite of what digital disconnect means.
In this new era of social media the rules of the road have changed significantly, yet the basic yearning for true connectivity and love have not.
– Matthew Hussey
People spend so much time in trying to find out what it is they are looking for in the wrong place. So many people think that famous people on the internet have found the thing they are looking for, but the truth is somewhat different. I think people really need to digital disconnect.
What it will say to be truly connected
We have never been more connected with the world and had a better possibilities to share great wisdom and experiences, yet we keep distracting ourself from what we really want. To be connected to friends, to receive positive vibrations from them, to be loved etc.
I think we all know what we want if we ask ourselves. But the problem here is that in order to be connected to ourselves we have to listen. And in order to listen we’ll need to be quiet and not talking or doing any activity. Just sitting and having a moment with yourself. Just like mindfullness and meditation is about. That’s how we can hear our inner voice. But in such a stressfull world we live in today it can we really hard to take breaks. And even if we take breaks from work it’s just for sitting with our phone. Aren’t I right?
We let our lives pass by
As in one of my other posts where I made six different minimalistic wallpapers with quotes (check it out here), one of the quotes were saying “Either you run the day or the day runs you.” This is where I’m trying to get to in this post. Either you can influence and change the day in the direction you want, or you can just let it pass by and see what it brings. Many people chose the latter unconsciously, because they’re just doing what others are doing.
What you can do in order to take control of your life, can be to stop over-using social media and becoming more aware of the present moment. This is all this post is about.
